KEY ISSUES

PRIORITIES
BOARD EFFECTIVENESS
Your local government should work for you. For too long our Township’s leaders have been focused on political infighting and personal agendas, rather than listening to the concerns of Scio residents, and focusing on top tier constituent services. I am committed to professionalism, to listening to residents’ concerns, and to working with efficiency on issues that matter most to residents.
TRANSPARENCY

The Clerk is the key individual for township transparency, responsible for the safe and fair administration of our elections, and the transparent and timely release of information to the public. As Clerk, I will be committed to the utmost level of transparency. However, transparency without trust gives little comfort to our community. I am laser-focused on building trust in the office of Clerk, providing timely information to residents, and updating the ways we communicate with the community.

PRESERVING OUR TOWNSHIP

It is no secret that one of the greatest assets of our community are the accessible pathways and preserved lands for all residents to access nature. We must continue conservation efforts to preserve these resources for the next generation. In addition to this preservation, I will continue to work with State and Federal partners to address the remediation of the Gelman Plume.

RESPONSIBLE FISCAL MANAGEMENT

One of the largest responsibilities of any government is to use your tax dollars effectively to meet the needs of the community. Financial stewardship has consistently been lacking from the current board leadership, resulting in the downgrading of Scio’s bond rating, increased insurance rates, and spending down the General Fund. As a member of the board of trustees, I would emphasize the need for regular, transparent financial reporting, analyses to understand where new and expanded township services are needed, and spending which is in line with the desires of township residents.

RESPONSIBLE GROWTH
Our region is growing because our community is a desirable place to live, work, and play. Growth is good – welcoming new neighbors, expanding our tax base, and providing more jobs and housing options.. However, as with any change, we must consider all the factors and grow responsibly. I am committed to working with stakeholders to ensure new business and neighborhood developments meet the needs and characteristics of our community. In addition, we must ensure that our infrastructure can meet this expansion, including roads, sidewalks, sewage, trash & recycling, and emergency services. I am committed to using efficient financial management to maximize our resources and update infrastructure so our residents have the top tier services we all deserve.
